Algarve Walking Season
The success of the Ameixial Hiking Festival inspired the creation of other events of the same kind, both in the Algarve and in the rest of the country. With some of these festivals we have shared experiences and our vision of the hiking tourism segment. On the other hand, the experience of the QRER Cooperative in organizing the Ameixial Walking Festival led to the creation of the Algarve Walking Season (AWS), a project to jointly promote the calendar of Algarve Walking Festivals.
This calendar brings together a total of 5 festivals, promoted by different entities and held in various parts of the Algarve's interior, committed to enhancing the territory's endogenous resources, including its culture, natural and cultural heritage and local communities.
Commitment to Environmental and Social Sustainability
One of the guiding principles of the Algarve Walking Season, shared by the WFA, is the commitment to using good environmental and social sustainability practices, namely by complying with the Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda, namely the SDGs below.
The Algarve Walking Season is coordinated by QRER, with the support of the Algarve Tourism Board and the partnership of the festivals in the network. To find out more about this project and the other festivals, check out the calendar on the website.
